(before) financial update
I hadn't expected to give one of these so soon. As of yesterday, I jumped from $625 to $970 and it's still coming in. God is so good. I am over halfway to my goal.
I have a feeling I'll exceed the amount of money I planned to raise. I wanted to inform you all that whatever money is leftover or excess I want to donate back to the Not for Sale Campaign. 27 million people are enslaved in the world today, and right in my own backyard, San Francisco is one of the worst offenders in the slave trade. I was involved with raising support for this last summer, and I'd like to continue and use the extra money to support the end to human trafficking. Let's be a light in the darkness.
If you want to know more about the Not for Sale Campaign, their website is: http://www.notforsalecampaign.org/
Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. I've been praying for so long and to know so many people are praying is incredible and overwhelming. God deserves all the credit, but I am eternally grateful.

(before) baby steps
Baby steps! It's a little at a time that counts. Woot! Woot! I just got an update today about my fundraising. I'm at $625. God does provide. I have about $800 to go. And my church is still doing the praise and worship night to help me raise funds in about 2 weeks. I'm close to halfway there. God is doing awesome things! Hallelujah! Just thought I'd update you! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS. I need those more than anything else. I really appreciate your commitment to this.
(before) on the road
This summer God is going to do incredible things. I'm starting this blog to keep you all updated with how things are going at BCM this summer and how you can pray for me and how God is working in my life.
If you didn't already know, I'm interning in East Palo Alto at Bayshore Christian Ministries for about 8-9 weeks. I can't wait to serve God and to minister to the kids of the community. I'll be living on the campus from June 13th till August 12th(ish). If you want to receive updates, feel free to email me inhisgrace7000@yahoo.com and I'll send out frequent updates (hopefully weekly, at the least).
How did I find it? I was looking for internships in December in my field of public relations and lo and behold God had bigger and better plans for me. I felt a strong tugging toward missions work, especially here in the States working with kids and teens. I prayed for weeks for something. I couldn't sleep one night and googled something long and wordy as usual and found BCM. It was an answer to prayer. What better place than to serve in my own backyard!
So a little bit about the organization. The goal of the organization is to meet practical and spiritual needs through leadership training, spiritual development, and life skills application. I will be working with kids ages 1st-3rd grade helping them with academic skills and participate in workshops designed for recreation and enrichment for the kids. Like many urban school districts, this district has very few resources to provide students with access and exposure to the creative arts and physical fitness (something that is important for childhood development).
My own personal goals with the organization? I hope to continue to passionately seek after God in everything and genuinely grow in my relationship with Christ. I love working with kids simply because I love people. I love getting to know new people, trying new things, and most importantly, building and investing in relationships. I am excited about the opportunity of meeting people my age who feel similarly, and to work with kids who desperately need the love of Christ and good Christian role models. I want to use my gifts and talents to serve God and use the abilities He has given me to further His kingdom and bless those around me. I'd like the opportunity to practically apply this things I've learned in college, and to connect my faith with my learning outside the classroom. And finally, I love a challenge, and God has been teaching me to embrace going outside my comfort zone.
I'd love for you to partner with me on this amazing spiritual journey. And you can do so in two ways.
First and most of all, I need prayer support. The program will involve many hours of long, hard, but rewarding work and relationship building with the other interns, program leaders, the kids and their families. Pray for energy and health, my mental, emotional, and physical stamina, for effective leadership, for a teachable willing heart, and for good solid Christ-like relationships to be built.
Secondly, I need financial support. I have to raise $1500 by June 11th to cover cost of living. Every dollar counts so I would appreciate anything you'd be able to give. If you want to give financially, contact me either on here or via email. I'll give you all the details. I know with God, nothing is impossible. He will provide.
In His Most Abundant Grace,
Hannah
